Oral Masses
Oral Masses
Oral masses in dogs and cats can include tumors, growths, or lesions that develop within the mouth or on the gums, tongue, or other oral tissues. These masses can vary widely in size, appearance, and severity. Common types include melanomas, squamous cell carcinomas, fibrosarcomas, fibromas, inflammatory lesions and odontogenic lesions (that can occur due to the tooth’s development). Early detection through regular oral exams is crucial for timely diagnosis and treatment. Depending on the nature of the mass, treatment options may include surgical removal, radiation therapy, chemotherapy or a combination of treatment options. The goal is aiming to manage or eradicate the mass and maintain the pet’s oral health and overall well-being.
